Ultra Wales 50

Ultra Wales 50 is a 51 miles trail and mountain race held on 20 June 2026, listed as the seventh edition. The route explores the lower reaches of southern Snowdonia and includes notable terrain such as Cadair Idris Penygader (893 m), Rhinog Fach (712 m), Dolgellau, the Barmouth estuary and the Coed-y-Brenin forest, with a total ascent of 2,898 m.

The event has a 20 hours overall cut off and six staffed checkpoints along the course. Each checkpoint provides refreshments including water, cola, electrolyte drink, sandwiches, fruit and snacks, and has medical or first responder cover. Checkpoints have strictly enforced cut off times and runners must check in at every checkpoint or face disqualification.

Entry is limited to 500 places and the published entry fee is £119. Qualifying criteria require entrants to be at least 20 years old at race time and to have previously completed a marathon distance in an organised event. No pacers or support runners are permitted and no drop bags are allowed.

Mandatory kit must be carried at all times; required items include a hardcopy map, waterproof coat with sealed seams, base plate compass, whistle, long sleeved base layer in a drybag, minimum 1 litre water capacity, charged mobile phone, survival foil blanket, primary headtorch, secondary light and the provided GPS tracker. A guided recce of the Paddy Buckley leg across the Snowdon Range from Beddgelert Forest to Llanberis on 14 June 2026. The 20 km route includes about 1,900 m of ascent and is led in small groups by qualified mountain leaders.

Trail and fun runs at Gregynog Hall on 14 June 2026, featuring an approx 6 km main race and a 1-mile fun run with awards and on-site first aid and toilets.
