Ultra Wales 50 : Ultra Trail and Mountain Race

Ultra Wales is a 51 mile mountain and trail race held in Southern Snowdonia, based at Coed-y-Brenin. The event for 2026 is the seventh edition and is scheduled for Saturday 20th June 2026. The course lists 2898 m of ascent and passes notable features including Cadair Idris Penygader (893 m), Rhinog Fach (712 m), Dolgellau, the Barmouth estuary and the Coed-y-Brenin forest.

The race is limited to 500 places and has a 20 hour cut-off; the entry fee is £119. The route is organised with six checkpoints that provide refreshments, vegetarian and vegan options, and medical or first aid cover. Live online GPS tracking is provided via GB Race Tracker and real time race results are published as runners finish.

Mandatory kit must be carried at all times and includes a hardcopy map, waterproof coat with sealed seams, baseplate compass, whistle, long sleeved base layer in a drybag, minimum 1 litre water capacity, charged mobile phone, survival foil blanket, primary and secondary lights, and the event GPS tracker. Entrants must be at least 20 years old, in good health and have previously completed an organised marathon distance. No pacers or support runners are permitted and no drop bags are transported to checkpoints.

Medals are allocated by finishing position with Gold for the top 200, Silver for 201 to 400 and Bronze for 401 and above. The event is part of the GB Ultras 50 mile Slam and Grand Slam series. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.

A 115 km multi-discipline race from Abersoch Beach to Snowdon summit and back, combining a sea swim, road cycling and a mountain ascent via The Watkin Path. The 2026 event reached a 400-person capacity and is currently sold out.
