Ultra Wales 50

Ultra Wales 50 is a 51 mile trail and mountain race based at Coed-y-Brenin in Southern Snowdonia. The route records 2898m of ascent and passes notable features including Cadair Idris (893m), Rhinog Fach (712m), Dolgellau and the Barmouth estuary. The 2026 event is the seventh edition and has 500 places.

The course is supported by six checkpoints located at roughly 12, 18, 23.3, 31.4, 40 and 46.3 miles, with a 51 mile finish and an overall 20 hour cut off. Checkpoints provide drinks, fruit, sandwiches, vegetarian and vegan options, and a medic or first responder on site. Live online GPS tracking is available via GB Race Tracker and official timing uses race chips.

Entrants must be at least 20 years old, in good health and have previously completed an organised marathon distance event. Mandatory kit must be carried at all times and random kit checks will take place; a GPS tracker is provided by the organisers. No drop bags are permitted and pacers or unauthorised support runners are not allowed.

Supporter access is restricted at some checkpoint locations; CP5 and CP6 are not accessible to supporters. Parking is available at the Coed-y-Brenin Visitor Centre under the venue conditions. Medals are awarded by finishing position tiers and prizes are given to the top three male and top three female finishers. Place transfers and deferrals are possible subject to deadlines and an administrative fee. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
